Stopped in to try this place. I love trying new places especially with BBQ in their name.
The staff was friendly, courteous and eager to help with the menu. I was expecting a little better tasting food but it may have been an off day. I will give them another shot at some point. So watch out for the updated review... -

The average rating seems most appropriate. I felt ignored by the cashier while picking up my order while she was dealing with some cash register issue. There were other employees close by but they were not eager to help, just chatting amongst themselves. You have to speak up in these instances and that worked fine. I was not impressed with the chopped pork sandwich, in fact, it was so spicey I regret ordering it, because for me, that comes with irritating diarrhea. I liked the fried okra and the cole slaw was edible. I do not see this as a 4 star place at this time.

This isn't a place where you are going to be wowed by the food, but you will get a good meal at a good price. Great daily specials and great desserts. Lots of choices where anyone can find something to eat.

Shell's barbecue has a nice and friendly vintage dinner feel. The staff is friendly and the prices are great for the food and service.

Great diner! There's an abundance of menu choices and the service was good too. One of the folks at the Hickory VA clinic recommended this place and she was spot on. It's good food at reasonable pricing!
